Wow! This Is Funny – This Mega Weed Destroys Homes And Offices
I nearly spat out my coffee when I saw what this weed can do. This weed is so powerful it can actually demolish buildings!
Its called ‘Japanese Knotweed’, and on the face of it it can squeeze through any flaw in a building and then as it develops, severely damage the structure of the building, frequently leading to demolition.
The pictures on this Japanese Knotweed site show good examples of it punching its way through some unlucky bloke’s flooring, and in different case squeezing between the main home and the extension.
I know I shouldn’t jest, but I couldn’t help it. On The Face Of It it is so difficult to stamp out that many homes need to be ripped down and the land cleared with toxic chemical treatment before anything can be reconstructed on it.
That got me pretty interested, “What is Japanese Knotweed“, I said to myself, so I digged into our knowledgeable friend Google to educate myself.
More humor resulted. The irony, the ‘oh so bitter irony’! This plant that is so tricky to kill that it is classified as a hazardous waste when you try to dispose of it, can be EATEN!!!!
Half the world undernourished, and we have a plant that grows anywhere, grows rapidly and can’t be stamped out easily, and rather than using it to help clear the hunger problem, we have squads of toxicologists trying to invent lower cost and better ways to eradicate it.
It’s a strange world we live in.
