There are a few basic items every stamp collector should have, in order to make the most of their hobby. Determine what kind of stamps you should collect and what tools you need to get started.
1. Handle your stamps carefully.
2. Always use tongs to handle your stamps.
3. Never lick, glue, or tape a stamp into your album.
4. Use very little moisture when apply a mount to a stamp
5. Never seal your stamp mount all the way.
6. Store your stamps in a cool dry place.
7. Buy a high quality album.
8. Do not soak your stamps until you are sure their ink will not run.
9. Never remove a stamp from a cover before checking for special markings.
