Reading The Time Honored Good Books For Kids
Books the world over are beloved by children. There are a few good books for kids that have been in circulation for ages and are still read by kids of all ages. They can be found at any library. There are also some lists that are devoted to compiling all the favorite books for kids.
Toddlers have always enjoyed Maurice Sendaks Where The Wild Things Are. It’s about a boy named Max who goes to sleep and visits the land of the Wild Things, who are monsters that he befriends. Max then awakes from his dream to his dinner, hot on the table still.
Another favorite is called Goodnight Moon and it’s about a little child who says goodnight to the things around him, and especially the moon.
Shel Silverstein and Mark Twain are both prolific and popular childrens book writers, and kids will either have read them in school or have checked their books out of the library. They continue to be popular to this day.
Newbury Medal award winning Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder and Fred Gibsons Old Yeller, are both classics that have been around for years and still to this day are enjoyed by children and adults of all ages.
Teenage audiences may recognize the Harriet the Spy books by Louise Fitzhugh and the fiction of Judy Blume, who has a huge repertoire with books like Superfudge and Deenie. As always, the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries remain popular with children and teenagers, and libraries remain stocked with them.
And who could forget Roald Dahl, author of such wonderful books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach, both made into movies. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett has been read in classrooms all across the U. S., and is now a movie as well.
