2011 Camaro Pictures: Whats New

If you are a Camaro fan, no doubt the return of the Camaro as a 2010 model was exciting. You may be wondering about the soon to appear 2011 Camaro pictures. They are coming, but there is a lot less to be excited about.

Even though the V6 engine did not change from 2010 to 2011, the rated horsepower went up from 304 HP in 2010 to 312 HP in 2011. The torque went up from 273 lb-ft to 278 lb-ft. How is this possible? SAE certification was not yet complete when the 2010 engine specifications were released, so General Motors went with a conservative estimate. Now that the certification is done, they switched to the real world specs from that. Other than this, the 2011 performance should be the same as in 2010.

If you are tracking the paper spec competition between the V6 Camaro and the similar Mustang, note that the Camaro just passed the Mustang on horsepower. The Mustang is still a bit ahead in fuel economy. Clearly the results of the paper race are still up in the air.

Drivers will be pleased to learn that some of the 2011 models of the Camaro will have a Head Up Display (HUD) based on the one in use on the Corvette. It will display important information on the windshield. This will include speed, RPM, and more. OnStar navigation instructions can also be displayed on the HUD.

If you like the new Synergy Green, note that it will be available on all Trim Levels of the 2011. It was first issued on the 2010 Synergy Special Edition Camaro and then offered on the 1LT Trim Level. Due to its popularity, it is being made more available.

The 2011 Camaro SS Convertible will perhaps be announced in the near future. There’s nothing about this on the official site, but rumors persist that it is coming. It will be cloth with small side windows. There will be a glass rear window. Finishing up the package are a distinct spoiler design and an antenna that looks like a shark fin.

The bad news is that the relaunch of the Camaro Z28 will take place in the 2012 model year. Earlier reports had claimed this would happen in the 2011 model year. It appears that the General Motors financial crisis caused a slight delay. It should be out sometime late in 2011. The word is that it will have a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 with roughly 556 horsepower.

The 2011 offers the same V8 engines as the 2010. The 6 speed manual transmission goes with the 6.2 liter LS3 engine. It is rated at 426 horsepower at 5900 RPM and 420 lb-ft at 4600 RPM. With the 6 speed automatic transmission you get the 6.2 liter l99. This will give you 400 horsepower at 5900 RPM and 410 lb-ft at 4300 RPM. The L99 has the Active Fuel Management system. This disables 4 of the cylinders when they aren’t needed, yielding better fuel mileage.

If you like the retro look, you will like viewing the 2011 Camaro interior pictures. The quality is definitely not luxury, but the instruments are well laid out and current. You probably won’t be surprised by the small back seat, but the small opening into the trunk will annoy you when loading large objects.

After summing up all the available 2011 Camaro pictures and specs it is a worthy successor to the 2010, though it hasn’t changed very much. The minor changes that are present are improvements. The upcoming convertible and Z28 should make for some excitement in Camaro land.
