This is a card trick, so you’ll need to get yourself a deck of cards. Any deck will do, in any order, and any size. Even if it’s an old deck with a couple cards missing, this will still work. Start out just like you’d expect. Fan out the cards, and have your mark pick one card, any card. Tell them to memorize it completely, and show it to everyone else who happens to be standing around.
Here comes the sneaky part. While they are studying their card, take a quick peek at the card that you will place on top of it. Then when they put their card back into the deck (which you have conveniently open up for them) you’ll know which card is next to theirs. Then you can do whatever you want to “guess” their card.
One way that works pretty good is to slowly look through the cards, holding them so they are facing you. Keep looking at them as if you are trying to read their mind. When you get to their card, put it on top of the deck. They won’t know what you are doing since they can’t see the cards.
Once their card is on top of the deck, put the whole deck behind your back. Then just take their card off the top, reverse it, and stick it someplace in the middle of the deck. Now their card is the only one facing up, while all the others are facing down. Then you can pretend you have no idea what their card is. Ask them to tell you, and then make a big deal of searching through the deck for it. They will be flabbergasted to find their card is different from all the rest.
